We are happy to announce that Julia Fullerton Batten and Mark Zibert appear in the PDN Photo Annual this year.  Mark’s image for The Museum of Contemporary Art Canada was awarded in the Advertising Category and his ad spot for Nike’s Mercurial Vapor appeared in the Video Category.  Julia’s web edit received the honor of being included in the Website Category.

Gilles & Cecilie Studio + Chelsea Children’s Hospital

Gilles & Cecilie Studio was commissioned by creative agency, Thomas.Mattews, to create designs for multiple wards at the Chelsea Children’s Hospital in London.  Partnering with fellow illustrator, Malika Favre, they developed a visual narrative to interpret Thomas.Matthews’ creative concept of “My Universe.”  The implementation of the concept aimed to enhance a young patient’s experience in the hospital through color and art.  Each ward has its own family of alien characters that complement the the “activity” that takes place there.

Kyle Alexander + Steady & Co Printing

This winter while in Minneapolis for a shoot, Kyle shot these images at the Steady Co. print shop. The shop offers design services, screen printing and risograph printing, helping to create a number of limited edition zines and books.

Giles Revell + Penfolds

Working with design agency The Monkeys, Giles helped to conceptualize an ad campaign for Australian wine maker, Penfolds.  To illuminate the beautiful characteristics of each plant used in the companies most popular wines, “Penfolds Bin Series: Descendants of Grange,” Giles created bespoke glass tendrils that mimic each grape’s vine.  The glass tendrils were then filled with the wine they represent, acting as a signature for their respective bottle and Bin Number.

Kyle Alexander + Rolling Stone + Texas Tourism Board

The Texas Tourism Board commissioned Kyle to shoot fellow Texas natives and members of the alternative rock band Courrier for an advertorial spread in Rolling Stone. Shot in in the state’s oldest continually running dance hall, Gruene Hall in Gruene, Texas the images illustrate a guide to Courrier’s hometown of Austin. The guide appears in the March 28th issue of Rolling Stone that is on stands now.

Kyle Alexander + Dulera

Kyle was commissioned by Area 23 (a DraftFCB company), to shoot a campaign for Merck’s asthma medication, Dulera.  The campaign is titled “Generation Du” and shot on the beaches of Malibu.  Check out the Behind-the-Scenes video below, created by the shoot’s Art Director, Joe Capanear.

On a recent trip to New York, Kyle stopped by the studio of bag and belt designers, Billykirk. Crafting everything by hand or outsourcing to the Amish in Pennsylvania, bothers Chris and Kirk Bray create designs that last, focusing on functionality and durability.

Erik Almås + RAM Trucks – Behind the Scenes

Erik was commissioned by The Richards Group to shoot a campaign for RAM Trucks that appeared on the first few pages of this year’s “Sports Illustrated — Swimsuit Edition.”  The images show a breadth of environments and were shot across California, Nevada and Hawaii.  Be sure to check out the behind the scenes video below to see Erik in action.
